The Greek Museum's policies and procedures for the acquisition and arrangement of historical records are outlined under Section 15(a) in the By-Laws of The Greek Museum, and are also filed with the New York State Board of Regents.
  • Objects are acquired and added to the collection by means of gifts, bequests, purchases, exchanges or any other transaction by which title of the objects passes to the museum.
  • The following points will be considered in deciding whether or not an object will be added to the collection
  1. The object is consistent with the collection goals of The Greek Museum.
  2. The object represents and exceptional opportunity for The Greek Museum.
  3. The object may be purchased (given that sufficient funds are available) if the object cannot be obtained by gift or bequest.
  4. Proper care and storage shall be given to all objects acquired.
