The Greek
Museum's policies and procedures for the acquisition and arrangement of historical
records are outlined under Section 15(a) in the By-Laws of The Greek Museum, and
are also filed with the New York State Board of Regents.
- Objects are acquired and added to the collection
by means of gifts, bequests, purchases, exchanges or any other transaction by which title
of the objects passes to the museum.
- The following points will be considered in
deciding whether or not an object will be added to the collection
- The object is consistent with the collection
goals of The Greek Museum.
- The object represents and exceptional opportunity
for The Greek Museum.
- The object may be purchased (given that
sufficient funds are available) if the object cannot be obtained by gift or bequest.
- Proper care and storage shall be given to all
objects acquired.
